Manager Training Policies

ADMISSION POLICIES

POLICY

  1. Students must meet the following criteria.
    a. Be at least 21 years of age
    b. Read and write English
    c. Possess the inherent qualifications, skills, and knowledge required for an assisted living manager.
    d. Able to set schedule for training as a priority and dedication for class completion. Schedule must be allowed time for independent study as well.
  2. Make timely if not immediate testing for certificate.
  3. Additional course review and fees will need to be negotiated
  4. Be aware that upon passing the D&S headmaster exam, an additional passing of an exam is required by the NCIA board to become certified

CRITERIA FOR TRAINING PROGRAM COMPLETION

POLICY

  1. Compldete the ALTA training as follows, students must
    a. Complete 40 hours
  2. classroom instruction on the topics in the approved training program
    curriculum, or
  3. On-line training
    b. Complete skills practice training on the topics in the approved training program curriculum. In person or by zoom for examples as stated in the curriculum
    c. Independent reading and vocabulary study will be assigned additionally. Participation will be required in these assignments.
    d. Successfully completing quizzes for each module. A grade of 75% is required. However extra study is recommended if 85% is not acquired for any module.
    e. Reading ability is critical and emphasis will be put on reading comprehension.
  4. A Board-approved examination, given by a board approved provider will be required after ALTA training.
    a. A student must pass, and is given two tries if necessary.
    b. If the student fails two times, the student must repeat the course. It is at the discretion of ALTA as to the fees related to a repeat course.

ATTENDANCE

POLICY

All students must complete 40 hours of classroom, or on-line in accordance with the established training guidelines. Additional assignments requiring personal study will be in addition to 40 hours of classroom. Every effort is made by ALTA to accommodate an agreed upon schedule

PROCEDURE

  1. All students attendance are recorded. This record will be reviewed for ascertaining completion of required class time.
  2. The training record will be reviewed the instructor.
  3. A skills practice and vocabulary study will be maintained for all demonstration of ability to do skills portion of the class.
  4. If a student misses scheduled classroom or skills practice, it is at the discretion of the instructor to arrange for additional instruction or wait for the next scheduled training session to “sit in” for missed training.
  5. Students must set the attendance at the training course as a priority. It is to be a time commitment for both students and staff.

GRADING AND REEXAMINATION

POLICY

Students must test at 75% for board test. It is encouraged that classroom quizzes and tests achieve 80%-85%.
PROCEDURE

  1. Quizzes will be graded at the end of each quiz. Evaluation will be done at end of grading.
  2. Students will be advised as to completion of the subject or encouraged for further study.
  3. Testing at the board approved site will require a 75% grade to pass. If the initial test is failed, a second re-examination is allowed.
    a. Students will be expected to register for testing immediately upon finalizing the class. If additional study time is required, student is advised to accomplish with the instructor.
    b. All quizzes and test results are part of the student record.
    c. Completion of the course and training examination is to be done no longer than 60 days.
    d. Student records will be marked as incomplete if done longer than 60 days.

STUDENT RECORDS

POLICY

A complete and accurate training record will be maintained for students in accordance with Arizona state law.
PROCEDURE

  1. Student records will be maintained in a confidential manner.
    a. Access will be restricted to instructors, state board representatives, and program administrative staff.
    b. Students may request a copy of their record by submitting a request in writing to the program director.
  2. The following information will be maintained in the student record.
    a. Name, date of birth, social security number, phone, address.
    b. Training record form.
  3. Attendance record including any needed make-up.
  4. Test and quiz scores. Notation of needed additional study or retests.
    c. Completed skills checklist.
    3 Documentation from program instructor for classroom hours, skills training,
    5 State board certified test results
    6 Copy of the certificate of completion issued to the student.
    7 A completed training program evaluation.
    8. Records will be kept for three years following the student’s completion in a secure
    fire-proof safe in the training program office.

PROGRAM RECORDS

POLICY

Training program records will be retained in accordance with Arizona Assisted Living Caregiver Training Program rules.

PROCEDURE

  1. Training materials will be kept for three years.
    a. Curriculum and course schedule for each student cohort.
    b. Results of state-approved written and manual skills testing.
    c. Evaluation forms completed by students, a summary of student’s evaluations.
    d. Any measures taken to effect improvement based upon the evaluations.
  2. Copy of all board reports, applications, or correspondence.

STUDENT FEES AND FINANCIAL AID

POLICY

  1. Student fees are non-refundable
  2. Financial aid is not available at this time.
  3. Employment contracts or other agreements can be made to effect training program payment.
  4. The student fee is $650.
  5. An on-line course is available. Students may review the on-line course for study prior to testing
  6. If a student wants to have hard-copy material the is a charge for the following
    a. All classroom materials necessary to participate in skills training. Up to 10 forms or copies $10.00
    b. Student handbooks $100.00
    c. When additional reports and information is requested a materials fee will be charged accordingly.
  7. If a student discontinues or and wants to resume training at another time, an additional fee, no less than $100 and dependent on material needing to be reviewed, will be expected to be paid.
  8. Incomplete will be entered into the D&S record after 60 days of not completing.
  9. Additional time for tutoring and additional fees are to be negotiated according to discerned need.

WITHDRAWAL AND DISMISSAL

POLICY

Students will be encouraged and assisted to complete the training program in accordance with the highest ethical standards.

PROCEDURE

  1. Withdrawal: Students who voluntarily withdraw from the program have 2 months to re-enroll and complete the remainder of the training. An additional fee will be charged as stated under payments.
  2. Dismissal; Students will be dismissed from the program at the discretion of the director for the following reasons/ directions.
    a. Not adhering to class schedule as agreed upon by staff and student.
    b. Not preparing materials assigned
    c. Committing acts that endanger him/herself or others.
    d. Substantiated allegations of cheating on an examination or misrepresentation of acquired skills.
    e. Committing criminal actions.
    f. Other reasons deemed worthy of dismissal by the director.
    g. Prior to dismissal, students will receive the following:
    i. First offense- documented verbal warning
    ii. Second offense- Written warning signed by the student
    iii. Third offense- Dismissal from the program.

STUDENT GRIEVANCES

POLICY

Students will have an opportunity to voice grievances and receive a response in a timely manner.

PROCEDURE

  1. Grievances may be submitted verbally or in writing.
  2. The Manager will be notified of any/all grievances.
  3. The response from the Manager will be within 14 days,
  4. When there are instructors, as well as managers, the chain of command will be to notify the instructor and follow-up with the Program Director/Manager.
